Cookie policy
Last updated: 27 July 2026
TryTokka uses a minimal set of cookies — only what is needed for login, preferences, and security. No ad trackers.
Plain English
- Essential cookies keep you signed in and secure.
- Theme preference is stored only after you pick light or dark; until then Scout follows your device.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- No Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, or similar on core product pages.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. They help websites remember your session and preferences. TryTokka uses cookies sparingly.
2. Cookies we use
| Name / type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-[project]-auth-token | Keeps you logged in — stores your encrypted session (Supabase Auth). Strictly necessary. | 1 hour (auto-refreshed via refresh token) |
| tk_device_id | Remembers recognised devices — if you sign in from a new browser or device, Scout sends you a security email so you know about it. httpOnly, not accessible to JavaScript. Strictly necessary for account security. | 1 year |
| trytokka-theme (localStorage) | Stores an explicit light or dark preference only after you choose one. Until then Scout follows your device theme — never sent to our servers. | Until you clear browser storage |
| trytokka-cookie-notice (localStorage) | Records that you dismissed the cookie notice so it doesn't reappear — never sent to our servers. | Until you clear browser storage |
| Tour / onboarding flags (localStorage) | Remembers which onboarding steps and product tours you've completed — never sent to our servers. | Until you clear browser storage |
3. Third-party cookies
When you pay via Stripe, Razorpay, or Dodo Payments, their checkout pages may set their own cookies. We do not control those — see Stripe, Razorpay, and Dodo Payments privacy policies.
4. Legal basis (GDPR / DPDP)
All cookies listed above are strictly necessary or security-functional:
- The session cookie and device-recognition cookie are required to authenticate you and protect your account — legal basis: contractual necessity (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and legitimate interest in security (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- localStorage items (theme, notices, tour flags) are not cookies under EU ePrivacy Directive scope and do not require consent; they never leave your device.
- We set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies — the categories that typically require explicit opt-in consent under GDPR.
- Separately from cookies, the public marketing site may use cookieless aggregate Vercel Analytics when deployed on Vercel, and optional Sentry error-reporting beacons when enabled. Those are described in our Privacy Policy — they are not advertising cookies and are not used to build cross-site ad profiles.
Because we do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, the informational notice on your first visit covers cookie transparency for essential/security cookies. See Privacy for analytics and error-reporting subprocessors.
5. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in. Theme preference is stored in localStorage and can be cleared under browser site data.
6. Try family
TryTokka cookies and localStorage apply only to trytokka.com. Sister free tools (TryQuickImg, TryDevSnip, TryCalculatingNow) under Acsaven are separate sites and do not share this cookie jar. See the Try family hub.
7. More information
See our Privacy Policy and GDPR page for how we handle personal data overall.
